We went to C128 for the first hour and I talked students through what was required for assignment 2 again.

In the second hour some students worked in the lab on the assignments. I met with some and we discussed the assignments.

I skipped the class on advanced search options for search engines because I was keen to press on.

COMP6023 Feedback - How am I driving?

We are at roughly the half-way point of the semester. I would be interested in getting student feedback on the module. I will open the comments on this blog to anonymous comments for a few days. That hasn't gone well in the past, but I will give it another go.

Comments don't have to be anonymous. But if you want to leave a comment anonymously make sure you are logged out of Google before you submit it. Comments will be moderated, but I hope to publish all of them.

Try to make the distinction between the module, the delivery of it,  the assessment of it, and the lecturer.  Students often merge all of these concepts.

COMP6023 Lab 06 ITM

I met with groups to discuss the GOMC and I met with students doing essays to discuss their plans.

When posting please identify the week about which you are posting. That makes it much easier for me to award the marks you are due. It also allows for the possibility of my being  slightly flexible with the deadline.

Also please the format of the dates so that it says the date of the post, rather than "2 days ago" for example.

We moved the class to C128 so I could talk students through the Photoshop needed to complete Assignment 2. It was a bit crowded, but any students that wanted to stay and work after I was done talking were able to find machines. Most students stayed for a second hour, to get more of it done.

Attendance was sparse but that's not surprising since I had a meeting for the first hour. And those who stayed were't especially well rewarded because we didn't do anything in particular.

I worked with some students on their GOMC campaign.

I went through the Photoshop required to complete Assignment 2.

We discussed the assessments.

Over the next few weeks I will go though the image coding theory that students need in order to complete Assignment 2 well. However I have assembled a subset of recordings from another module (COMP6021) in which these issues were covered. I met with each student and gave feedback on his blog posts to date.

I showed students how to use Photoshop to save files for the web. Students will need Photoshop in order to complete Assignment 2. Students can download a 30-day free trial from Adobe.com or use the machines in C128.

I asked students to get to grips with the Page authoring tool in blogger.

DNET LAB 11 ON WED 6 MARCH

I won't be at the lab until aroud 1200.

Monday's DCOM Lab canceled

I have a meeting on Monday so I won't be able to make the lab class for 1600. However I should be available from 1700 to meet with any students that have issues.
